Frequently Asked Questions

Taking the step to engage with a therapist can be scary. Maybe this is your first time seeking out services or perhaps you’re just shopping around for a new provider. It’s normal to have curiosities and uncertainties. Below you’ll find the answers to common questions people often have before moving forward with therapy services.

Please reach out if your question isn’t answered here and I’ll be happy to support!

  • I provide online-only services at this time and serve clients in the states of Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, and Colorado. Telehealth services allow you to attend therapy from anywhere within these four states and offers increased access to services. I use a HIPAA-compliant videoconferencing platform through Zoom. You will be able to see me during your session and may obtain services from the comfort of a private location of your choosing.

I cannot see clients that are not physically located in FL, VA, NC, or CO. I also do not hold sessions if you are actively driving. Safety first!

  • I’m currently in-network with UHC, Aetna, and Cigna for all clients. Additionally, I take Blue Cross Blue Shield for Colorado residents only. HSA cards are accepted to cover your session cost, co-pays, or coinsurance.

You are encouraged to contact your insurance provider directly to check your existing benefits for mental/behavioral health services. The questions to ask to confirm coverage are:

-Do I have outpatient mental health coverage?
-Do I have a deductible that has to be met before sessions are covered? If so, what is this amount?
-What is my co-pay or coinsurance?
-Do I need prior approval before receiving outpatient mental health services?

If your insurance is not listed above, then I am considered an out of network (OON) provider. Your coverage will likely be different in this case. I provide OON billing through Thrizer. This means you are responsible for the full fee at the time of services, and I can submit a claim on your behalf so you may get reimbursed for a portion of the fee. It’s recommended that you contact your insurance company directly with the following questions to determine if you have OON benefits and what your coverage is:

-Do I have coverage for out of network mental health services?
-Do I have to meet an out of network deductible before claims are reimbursed? What is this amount?

The therapy codes I bill are 90791 for initial intake sessions, 90837 for individual therapy, and 90846 for parent-only sessions.

Please note that I do not accept any Medicare or Medicaid plans, even if they are administered through Optum, Aetna, or Cigna. You will be responsible for the full fee at the time of services. If you are unsure, you can contact your provider as some plans do not provide OON coverage and you may be ineligible to receive reimbursement through Thrizer.

  • 55-minute individual therapy sessions are $150

I have limited sliding scale slots available. Please reach out to inquire about current availability.

  • I am required to demonstrate medical necessity for services which includes providing a diagnosis if you choose to use insurance benefits, plan to seek out-of-network reimbursement, or pay for services using an HSA card. This will be discussed in your initial session, and you will remain updated with the diagnoses given and any changes that occur throughout treatment. I am not required to provide a diagnosis if you remain self-pay and do not seek to involved insurance. Diagnoses are not given for relationship counseling.

  • We will first set up a free 10 minute phone consultation to explore your needs, ensure I would be a good fit, and schedule your first session. You will be emailed links to my intake documents to be completed 24 hours prior to your first appointment, or the appointment may be cancelled. During the first session, we will focus on the situations that bring you to treatment and discuss the goals you have for our time together. This is a time for us to get to know each other and develop a plan for future sessions.
